Deciphering Old European

Stuart Harris BS, MS, MBA

Summary:
By using biligual Owners Marks to establish the sound values of an ancient script called Old European, examples of this writing trace back to pieces of red ochre deposited in caves in South Africa 164,000 years ago. Even then it was a mature script, so the origins go back further.

Coming forward, Old European evolved into variations such as Indus, Elamite and Linear A that follow the same rules but look much different. These daughter languages will be deciphered using the syllabary of Old European as a guide, and end with Iberian and Glozel that died out under Roman occupation. Along the way I will translate ancient place namens and personal names that seem to have no meaning, likeParis, Themes, Congo and the mark for China.
