Arch. Dawoud Khalil Messiha M.S.
Egypt

Summary:
In research for new rooms in the Great Pyramid, Dr. Khalil Messiha the Egyptian physician and archaeologist spent more than four years in analytical and research studies. In the 2nd of Mars 1967 he was permitted officially by the Egyptian Antiquities Department, to start work in the Great pyramid in collaboration with Dr. Hishmat Messiha curator of Giza pyramids area.

Dr. Khalil believed that there should be a secret burial chamber for Khufu for many reasons. The so-called King's and Queen's rooms were built in the super structure-whereas most other pyramids of the 4th, 5th and 6th Dynasties had only one subterranean burial chamber hewn out of the bedrock below the super structure. Reference to pyramid texts three important elements; the king would become one of the circumpolar stars. The king is said to spent his after life in the boat of Re. The third element is the identification of the dead king with Osiris; which Dr. Khalil believed it should be applied in the secret chamber mentioned by Herodotus. His description of Khufu secret burial chamber is very similar to the Osireion temple arrangement regarded as Osiris symbolic tomb at Abydos in Upper Egypt. Herodotus during his visit to Giza Plateau (c. 440 BC) was told that beneath the pyramid there were vaults constructed on a kind of island, which was surrounded by water brought from the Nile by a canal. Herodotus information about the pyramids can be taken at face value, many of his aspects have good evidence of truth.

Dr. Khalil decided to follow the radiation of form theory. After more than 18 months of analysis study by radionic instruments, he found the entrance location and a hollow space at about 20 meters down the Queen’s chamber. His instruments detected a ray emitting from a mummified body of a man or an animal. A longitudinal section of the Great Pyramid was prepared by Dr. Khalil Messiha, indicating his discovery of the corridor and the secret chamber of King Cheops. The workers started from 3 – 7 Mars 1967 by cleaning the floor and removing 10 cm thick of cementious mud layer which concealed the original floor stone slabs which had not been known before and were discovered for the first time by Dr. Khalil. His discovery of the original floor slabs has an evidence in "Pyramids of Egypt", the book written by the Egyptologist Edwards published in London 1946 and the Egyptologist Flinders Petrie’s description on 1883 about Queen’s chamber. During the cleaning of the layer mud, the workers found chips of the ancient bronze tools; which were sent on 11th Mars to the laboratory of the Cairo museum for analysis. After failing to remove the entrance stone slabs, the team work decided on 13 Mars, rather than removing the stone blocks of the floor, to drill a small hole of only 2 inches through which they passed a probe of wire, which went down for more than 20 meters. Also, through that hole the chief of workmen procured chalky like powder of a reddish color, part of it was sent to the laboratory of Cairo Egyptian museum.

Dr. Khalil was permitted to work for only ten days until 13 Mars 1967 after which he received an official order to halt his excavations, and let a "cosmic Rays" project from USA to begin. The team was aimed to explore the 2nd pyramid of Giza rather than Khufu Pyramid but got no definite results after four years of work. A French expedition arrived on 1986 and used a microgravemeter to survey the Queen’s room and its corridor. A Japanese team of Wassida University was permitted on 1987 to investigate the Great Pyramid. The results of the two expeditions confirmed the existence of a cavity near the north western wall of the Queen’s room which complies with Dr. Khalil Findings of 1967. Dr. Kahlil’s work is more accurate because he investigated the secret passage by the wire probe to more than 20 meters down while other expeditions instruments reached no more than 5 meters as per their reports. Dr. Khalil said that the world would not be able to open Khufu secret room until the year 2000. Dr. Khalil Messiha has passed away in peace on 29 Dec. 1998.
