1. Bilingual Owners Marks from the Baltic

Summary: From 1800 BC to 1800 AD, Europeans left signatures on their work based upon Old European syllabary. Some documents spelled the owner's name in Latin letters, thus providing true bilinguals that allow reconstruction of the sound values. Table 1 decodes these syllables, Appendix 1 contains details of each letter, and three examples illustrate how to read the text.
